Nairobi Wrapp-It Shine Foaming Lotion Ingredients & Review

Nairobi Wrapp-It Shine Foaming Lotion, 8 Ounce

Nairobi products have never failed me in the past so when it came to buying the the Nairobi Wrapp It Shine Foaming Lotion I could not be more excited. I remember using the setting lotion years ago in the salon but I never had the chance to use the foaming lotion.

I stumbled across this product after watching someone set their hair with it on a YouTube. That reminded me of how perfect wraps and sets would come out after using it on clients, so I defiantly had to try it! There was only one issue……where the hell was the ingredients?????

I searched online and came across their website but the link that said “ingredients” listed only three things: Dimethicone Copolyol, Polysorbate-20, and Quaternium.

Now, I’m not an ingredient expert but, I knew that only three ingredients couldn’t be accurate. So I set out to do a little research online and came up with nothing, nada, zilch……

What was I to do? I already knew that in the past the setting lotion delivered awesome wet sets and, the history alone was enough for me to purchase it but, what if it had Parabens, or something else that I wasn’t aware of? I decided to go ahead with my purchase in hopes that the ingredients would be posted on the container itself or somewhere in the shipping contents.

When I received my package it was tightly wrapped in plastic without the ingredients on the container or within the packaging so I had no other choice but to call the company.

A very nice lady answered the phone and I explained why I was calling. She seemed a bit busy but was still kind. She told me that the ingredients were on the website. I told her I looked at the website and I was not satisfied with the ingredient list because it seemed to be incomplete.

At this point, I started to get a little concerned that the Nairobi company didn’t want their product ingredients public because one of two things. There was something shady going on with the ingredients or, two, they wanted to hide the ingredients to prevent someone from copying and selling their products.

With that being said, I told the woman on the phone my concerns and she finally told me where to find the full ingredient list. It WAS on their website but it was not under the ingredient tab. It was under the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) tab.

  • Propylene Glycol 57-55-6
  • Dimethicone Copolyol 64365-23-7

The Review

Okay, so now that we’ve got the ingredients out of the way, onto the review! The Nairobi Wrapp It Shine Foaming Lotion is great! It performed better then any foaming lotion that I’ve ever used. I will list the Pro’s and Con’s below
  • Easy pump bottle.
  • Easy application. It had a bit of slip to it so it was easy to comb through and set my wet hair.
  • Super fast delivery (2days)
  • Made hair very soft and shiney
  • Drying time seemed to be quicker
  • Has a heat protected within the ingredients

  • The price was 11.99 on Amazon and I could not compare the price locally because I could not find it! However it’s cheaper on Amazon then it is on the official website.
  • Not having the ingredients listed on the container.
Overall, I would definitely buy this again. My wet set came out great and my hair dried quickly under the hooded dryer. I’m glad I came across this product line again. I may try other things from Nairobi but only after I check the ingredients first!

Allergic To Castor Oil?

Last week I uploaded a video briefly discussing my two strand twist routine. I talked about what products I would be using and the length of time that I planned on keeping the twist in. Well, let me tell you how I removed my two strand twist today (one week later) after doing a little detective work pertaining to my irritated scalp.

Earlier in 2012, I jumped on the castor oil band wagon. The first time I tried it, I was not impressed. It was stinky and thick as I remembered it. As the day went on, I noticed that my scalp became itchy and inflamed. I couldn’t wash my hair right away because I was at work, so I had to suffer until I got home.
Once I shampoo”d I decided to give it one more chance by applying the castor oil to my hair ends only. Once again, I felt the need to wash my hair a few days later, although it wasn’t as urgent as the first time. So how in the world did I come to taking my twist out today??????

Well……. the day before I twisted my hair, I found a lovely container of whipped shea butter at the bottom of my drawer. A few months ago, my daughter and I whipped up some homemade shea butter using several oils that I had laying around the house. I used it to twist my hair last week. While twisting I remember thinking to myself, “this smells different from what I remember”. I twisted my hair anyway not even thinking that the “different” smell was castor oil!

So today (after having crazy itchy scalp most of the week) I realized that I added castor oil to the shea butter mix I made months ago. I could have shampoo’d my twist but the sensation that castor oil leaves on my scalp is so uncomfortable that I’m willing to start over with fresh (castor oil free) hair.

As of today, I have two spots on my scalp that are red and itchy….. ugh…. I must be allergic to this stuff.
I threw out the left over whipped shea butter, and will never use castor oil again!

As for my twist…. I’ll redo them in the near future with loc and twist gel.

What’s your experience with castor oil? Have you ever had an experience like I did? Leave it in a comment below!

Cantu Shea Butter Coconut Curling Cream Review | Wash n Go

Very inexpensive! It was on sale for at WalMart for $5.99

Smells yummy like coconut dessert

Wet, thick and creamy with good slip
No Mineral Oil, Sulfates, Parabens, Silicone Phthalates etc.

Here’s the before and after. The ONLY product I used was the Cantu Shea Butter Coconut Curling Cream to do my wash n go because of the oils listed within the ingredients.
Now the air drying begins. It’s 1:16pm right now. I’ll update this post in a few hours to show how my hair looks once fully dry. Check out this video review…….

Okay, so I do like this product buuuuuut…… my hair poofed out after making my runs today. My hair is lacking that hold it’s use to with gel so, I’ll be applying gel over this product to see what happens. Hopefully I will update you with the good news in a day or two!

This wash and go ended up coming out fabulous! After my hair dried is was very soft and shiny. It lasted about 4 days before I had to wash it out again. Here’s a photo of how it looked on day 3.
I plan on sticking with this wash and go regimen for a little longer before I deem it my “updated wash and go routine”. Until then I’ll keep updating this post with any new details!

It’s been a few months and I still really love my Pebco. I have no regrets and I highly recommend it to anyone considering buying this unit. It was well worth the money, and has paid for itself with it’s efficiency and reliability. The only regret that I have is that I didn’t purchase it sooner. Here’s a few things that I absolutely love about this hooded dryer.

1. Ionic Feature- It’s something to this ionic technology that does wonders to our hair. My hair is noticeably softer and shinier after roller sets. I even upgraded my handheld dryer to make sure it was ionic too.

2. The Design- It’s comfortable…… way better then my last hooded dryer. The actual hood tilts slightly to accommodate your posture. It also swivels from side to side and can be raised up and down to fit your height requirements.

3. Faster Drying Time- I went from 1 1/2 hrs to 45-60min!

Deep Conditioning With Elasta QP Soy Oyl (Initial Review)

Elast QP Soy Oyl Deep Conditioner Natural Hair Review

Today I deep conditioned with Elasta QP Soy Oyl. I’m on the fence about this product mainly because I didn’t use my new staple leave-in-conditioner Biotera. I’ll update this initial review of Elasta QP Soy Oyl, when I use it again next week but here’s my thoughts about this product so far….

A little goes a long way and It was easy to apply. The smell was clean but not really appealing to my taste. I prefer natural smells like lavender, coconut, or mint…. this had more of a perfume smell.

In the photo above my hair is still damp. It felt soft but as it dried it became hard. I’m not completely sure if this had something to do with me using up the rest of my Aphogee leave-in, or if it’s the deep conditioner itself. I’ll have to try again next week to be sure.

Garnier Nutrisse Hair Dye On Natural Hair | Review

I wanted to even out my hair color so I picked up a box of Garnier Nutrisse from Walgreens for $7.99. I previously colored my hair (over 6 months ago) with ION color brilliance, and was NOT pleased. It left my hair feeling dry and dull. After seeing great reviews online, I decided to venture into the world of box hair dyes.
In cosmetology school, we were taught that anything in a box from a drug store for your hair is the DEVIL ( not really but I’m adding a little drama :). Box hair color can be tricky if you’re going lighter but, since I’m going darker it’s fine. I like having a certain amount of red undertones in my hair so I went with “black cherry”. I’m very happy with Garnier Nutrisse and will definitely buy it again. It left my hair soft and feeling silky, just like it said on the box. I also enjoyed the hint of red throughout. Best of all, I can’t see those annoying grey hairs anymore! This is my initial review. If I find that my opinion changes, I will update this post.

My hair before I colored it. Its medium brown on the ends and dark brown at the roots.

I’m adding the color following the directions that were inside of the Garnier Nutrisse color box.
