Prevent Hair Breakage & Damage With Moisture

Prevent And Repair Hair Breakage & Damage

The best way to prevent hair breakage and damage is by keeping your hair moist. Dry hair is more susceptible to breakage and damage. I struggle with this when I get lazy with my hair but when I incorporate moisture into my regimen my hair thrives! Here are some ways that you can add moisture to your hair.

  • Moisturizers that have natural ingredients like shea butter, avocado oil or any other natural plant based ingredient deeply penetrates the hair shaft giving your strands lasting softness and manageability.
  • Washing your hair on a regular basis not only keeps your scalp and hair clean but, it also hydrates it. Use a sulfate free shampoo or cowash to prevent drying your hair out. Washing your hair at least once a week is recommended.
  • Deep Conditioning is helpful when it comes to locking moisture in. This is another thing that I have struggled with in the past but since I’m on a hair growth journey I find it necessary to grow my hair to new lengths. A natural deep conditioner rich in plant based ingredients is much better then the ones on the drug store shelf so make sure you buy quality. Not all deep conditioner perform equally and that’s why it’s important to pay close attention to the ingredients.
  • Sealing in the moisture is the icing on the cake. It essentially locks in all the nourishing moisture that you applied to your hair. Once again, use a natural oil like olive oil or almond oil to seal and protect your hair.
  • Leave In Conditioners are applied right after rinsing the conditioner from you hair. I got on the leave in conditioner bandwagon late, and I’m so glad I started incorporating leave-in’s into my hair care regimen. It really is the most underrated part of keeping your hair nourished and moisturized.
  • Protective Styling keeps your hair from drying out. After you spent all that time and patience building up the moisture in your hair don’t let it evaporate to quickly by leaving your hair loose. I’ve currently been wearing buns and updo’s to protect my hair but there are several other hairstyles like braids, twists, wigs, and weaves that work just as good
